Certify for a Logo: Getting Started

The Windows Certification Program is designed to address the current and future market needs of customers using the Windows platform. The Windows logo signifies the compatibility and reliability of systems and devices with the Windows operating system. It gives customers confidence that your product is thoroughly tested with Microsoft-provided tools to help ensure a great user experience.

Get started certifying your driver or product for a Windows logo:

Develop According to Current Logo Requirements

To ensure the best compatibility of your device with Windows, review the Windows 7 Logo Program requirements for your class of device. To access the Windows 7 Logo Program requirements for your device, see the Windows 7 Logo Program Requirements and Policies page.

The new Windows Hardware Certification program (formerly known as the Windows Logo program) makes it easier to certify your hardware for Windows 8. Use the Windows 8 hardware requirements to build and certify your Windows-compatible devices, systems, and filter drivers across all Windows platforms.

Test Your Product by Using the Windows Logo Kit

The Windows Logo Kit (WLK) contains everything needed to certify devices for Windows: Driver Test Manager (DTM), required tests, and documentation needed to set up DTM and execute the tests. Start by visiting the Windows Logo Kit page.

The Windows Hardware Certification Kit (HCK) Consumer Preview release provides you with a preview of the tools, processes, and tests that will be used to certify hardware for Windows 8 and all supported versions of Windows.

Submit Your Product for Certification and a Logo

Several online logo tools are available to help you prepare and submit your system or device for a Windows logo. To get started using these tools, see the Windows Dev Center Hardware Dashboard.
