When the presenter was adding the stored procedure she got shome tools in the toolbox. i.e. deletecustomer; insertcustomer; updatecustomer. But in my VB 2008 I dont have these tools in the toolbox. How can I get them / create them in my toolbox?

You can create code snippets by selecting text in the code editor and then dragging that onto the toolbox. Then you can use that snippet of code again by dragging from the toolbox into the editor. I wrote the stored procedures and saved them as snippets for the video. You can use them as a pattern to create stored procs for all your tables if those are appropriate to use for your application.

thanks for this tutorial, i think those stored procedures should help me with my problem. My entered Data in the Datagrid were never saved into the database, so i am looking forward to viewing the next tutorials.

Hi Beth, I tried to create the SQL Server like you show in the video but I keep getting an error message:
"A network related or instance specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections.
(provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)
 
Do you know what I should do about this?
 
I'm using Visual Studio 2008 Professional and SQL Server 2005. I'm working on a project for a class I'm in, so I don't have a "server" just my computer.

Suzanne you must first give permissions to the user in SQL Server got to Security > Login > right click user > Properties > User Mapping > Select your database and the kind of database role according to your requirement commonly db_dataRead db_dataWrite and db_dataOwner are selected.
