Naming "M" I like M as a name alternatively I quite like Novum as it has two meanings Latin - fresh/new (assuming my schoolboy Latin is holding up) Pop culture - to describe plausible innovations used in narratives ( mainly science fiction ) which I think fits quite well

Naming "M" I personally like the name "M" and would suggest you stay with that...
M# doesn't make much sense because M doesn't target the .NET Framework...

Naming "M" M seems to be a very good name, other than colliding with the "new" (1992, 1999) name for MUMPS. Colliding with another name is not necessarily a showstopper. It happens all the time that something new and important uses a name that had been obscurely used before. But that discussion can continue. [...] Wednesday, Sep 9 by Miles Whitener

Naming "M" Sorry, I misunderstood what Gurcan was saying; I perceived just the opposite of his statement (namely: that M# is enough, any new name should be attributed to newer technologies).
In that case I agree with him (except for M&M).
I need to thank an anonymous member of this list who explained it to me off-list. [...] Tuesday, Sep 8 by Ceyhun Ciper

As for the language, "M" is great. It could also be M#/MSharp just to align with C#, F#...
The language is quite huge, so I would definitely maintain nick-names for the different language parts as for example MSchema, MGrammar, MValues/MGraph and MQuery/MLinq. [...] Tuesday, Sep 8 by Lars Corneliussen
