What is PerformancePoint Server?

Microsoft Office PerformancePoint Server is an integrated application for performance management. With PerformancePoint Server, you can manage a single, integrated application. Users can create reports and scorecards that show performance at a glance, or create rules that help them better understand variances between planned and actual performance. Analysts can quickly analyze root-causes and recast plans when necessary reaching all business functions (finance, operations, marketing, sales, and human resources). Customers can enter the performance management process at any point, benefiting from a common data model shared across monitoring, analytical, and planning activities.

PerformancePoint Server 2007 provides all the functionality that is needed for performance management.
