Wireless Application Hosting and Deployment Broadbeam Corporation recently introduced five components of its SystemsGO! wireless hosting services: SystemsGO! Develop, Pilot, Gateway, Applications, and Deploy Subscribers. Through these services, Broadbeam hosts wireless connectivity and provides systems management for wireless gateways and applications. The SystemsGO! Develop program is designed to support wireless application development by providing a wireless server and connections to a wireless network. Included in the program is Broadbeam's software development platform, access to a wireless server, and connection to their network of choice for development purposes. Applications built on Broadbeam's flexible wireless middleware platform can be deployed to a range of mobile users so companies can stress-test their application in the field. Customers use the SystemsGO! Deploy service when they roll out their application to their mobile workers. The SystemsGO! Deploy service comes in three varieties. To organizations that want to outsource the hosting and management of the entire wireless application, the SystemsGO! Deploy Applications service is a viable option. The service includes hosting of server and application, support, and access to multiple networks. The SystemsGO! Deploy Subscribers service is designed specifically for ISVs that have Web-enabled applications they want to take to market via an Active Server Pages (ASP) model. Restore Your Registry imagine LAN Inc. is shipping RegSafe Professional Edition 1.0, a suite of tools that enables advanced registry management on 32-bit Windows®-based PCs. RegSafe utilizes System Snapshot technology, which was originally introduced in the company's ConfigSafe product. Snapshot technology captures and stores images of important system-related data at specified intervals. RegSafe uses this technology to capture and save registry data to be used for administration, comparison, and troubleshooting purposes. RegSafe lets users view, edit, manage, and safeguard the registry in a protected environment. The View function lets users view the registry without the ability to edit, allowing them to look through the registry without the possibility of making any inadvertent changes. Users can view the registry in various ways, such as by root keys, or expand to view Keys, Values, Data, and Key Permissions (such as access control lists) on systems running Windows NT® or Windows 2000. An Edit function allows users to edit the current registry. RegSafe provides added protection by automatically saving a copy of the registry before any edits are made. RegSafe also provides troubleshooting and restoration capabilities with tools such as the Comparison feature. Users can compare current or Snapshot registries, evaluating keys and values within the same registry, or comparing access control lists (ACLs) on systems running Windows NT or Windows 2000. If a registry problem is discovered, RegSafe enables registry restoration. A full or partial restoration of the entire registry can be performed. In addition, RegSafe provides an SOS feature that permits restoration of the Registry from MS-DOS®. If a system running Windows 9x, Windows Millennium Edition, Windows NT, or Windows 2000 (including NTFS formatted drives) will not boot properly, RegSafe can restore the system to a working state.

Code, Test, and Maintain Distributed Apps ONTOS Inc. has released ObjectSpark, which automates the generation of high-performance transactional data components for deployment in any Windows-based architecture. This gives the developer a simple API for persisting data that hides all the complexity of the data storage model and softens the impact of changes made on the back end. ObjectSpark includes a graphical interface for capturing and mapping object models and data models, validating the mapping, and generating data components. It also has a set of core runtime services that persist data in the form of data components, ActiveX Data Objects (ADO) recordsets or XML documents, all based on the same mapping, as well as a Microsoft Management Console (MMC) plug-in to configure and deploy components under Microsoft Transaction Services (MTS). ObjectSpark provides an OLE DB interface which uses a mapping to translate an object-based query into SQL. This allows you to use an OLE DB consumer (such as Crystal Reports) to create queries based on your object model. The package also includes a generic component interface that enables you to code clients who use the mapping metadata to dynamically construct application-specific objects at runtime.
