Convert.ToInt64 Method (Byte)

Converts the value of the specified 8-bit unsigned integer to the equivalent 64-bit signed integer.

Parameters

value
Type: System.Byte

The 8-bit unsigned integer to convert.

Return Value

Type: System.Int64
A 64-bit signed integer that is equivalent to value.

The following example converts each element in an array of bytes to a long integer.

byte[] bytes = { Byte.MinValue, 14, 122, Byte.MaxValue};
long result;

foreach (byte byteValue in bytes)
{
   result = Convert.ToInt64(byteValue);
   Console.WriteLine("Converted the {0} value {1} to the {2} value {3}.",
                     byteValue.GetType().Name, byteValue,
                     result.GetType().Name, result);
}
