Signed Driver Check Workaround for Windows Server 2008

The job packaging of the CHKLogo-Signed Driver Test contains a problem that affects Windows Server 2008 Server System logo submissions. The problem causes false passes if devices or drivers that qualified only for Windows Vista are used in a Windows Server submission and causes false failures if devices and drivers that qualified only for Windows Server 2008 are used in the submission. This can impact the stability of the operating system. We have created a workaround that minimally impacts vendors and submissions of Windows Server 2008 systems. This workaround requires a small, one-time, manual intervention by the vendor's WHQL test team on the Driver Test Manager (DTM) controller that is used for logo testing of Windows Server 2008 systems. The fix is persistent and is removed only if the DTM controller is uninstalled. The change causes an antitampering message to appear, which can be ignored because this does not prevent submitting the results to Winqual.

1. Open DTM Studio and then open Job Explorer.
   
   
   

2. Click the query builder icon and create the following query:
   Field Name: Name
   Operator: Equals
   Value: Signed Driver Check (Server 2008) (Manual)

3. Click Refresh.
   Signed Driver Check (Server 2008) (Manual) appears in the box below.

4. Click The job, and then click Edit Job on the top toolbar.
   Six tabs (Details, Parameter, Constraints, LMS, Tasks, and Attributes) appear.

5. Click the Tasks tab.
   Three tabs (Setup, Regular, and Cleanup) appear.

6. On the Regular tab, select the task that appears in the RunJob - Signed Driver Check - library box, and then click the Edit command box on the right.
   Two tabs (General and Execution Options) appear.

7. Click the General tab.
   Two tabs (Run Job and XML) appear.

8. On the Run Job tab, click the cell under Library Job Parameter Name and then select ChkLogoParam.

9. Click the cell under Job Parameter Name and select ChkLogoParam.

10. Click the OK button on the bottom, and then click Save Job on the top toolbar.

Note:
Device Console provides a warning that a job that is required to create the submission has been changed from its original form. To proceed with the test, click Continue. This action triggers an antitampering flag that is manually verified by Winqual.
