About This Download

Windows Vista provides the flexibility for system manufacturers to implement the Away mode feature, which is included in Update Rollup 2 for Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. Away mode allows the computer to appear off to the user while it continues to perform tasks that do not require user input, such as recording television and viewing Media Center Extender sessions. This kit describes implementation options for system manufacturers who wish to provide Away mode functionality by providing sample code and an implementation whitepaper.
