This paper provides information about the procedure for submitting changes to the Machine.inf file for inclusion certain releases of the Windows operating system. It provides guidelines for device and chipset manufacturers to submit their updates to Microsoft.

This paper covers only the submission of changes to Machine.inf. It does not cover the submission of changes to Agp.inf, Usb.inf, Mshdc.inf, or any other INF file.

This information applies to Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7. It does not apply to Windows 8 and later versions.
