Win32_PageFileUsage class

The Win32_PageFileUsageWMI class represents the file used for handling virtual memory file swapping on a Win32 system. Information contained within objects instantiated from this class specify the run-time state of the page file.

The following syntax is simplified from Managed Object Format (MOF) code and includes all of the inherited properties. Properties and methods are in alphabetic order, not MOF order.

[Provider("CIMWin32")]class Win32_PageFileUsage : CIM_LogicalElement
  uint32   AllocatedBaseSize;
  string   Caption;
  uint32   CurrentUsage;
  string   Description;
  datetime InstallDate;
  string   Name;
  uint32   PeakUsage;
  string   Status;
  boolean  TempPageFile;

The Win32_PageFileUsage class has these types of members:

The Win32_PageFileUsage class has these properties.

Data type: uint32
Access type: Read-only
Qualifiers: Units (Megabytes)

Actual amount of disk space allocated for use with this page file. This value corresponds to the range established in Win32_PageFileSetting under the InitialSize and MaximumSize properties, set at system startup.

Example: 178

Data type: string
Access type: Read-only

Short description of the object—a one-line string.

Data type: uint32
Access type: Read-only
Qualifiers: Units (Megabytes)

Amount of disk space currently used by the page file.

Data type: string
Access type: Read-only

Description of the object.

Data type: datetime
Access type: Read-only

Object was installed. This property does not need a value to indicate that the object is installed.

Data type: string
Access type: Read-only
Qualifiers: Key

Name of the page file.

Example: "C:\PAGEFILE.SYS"

Data type: uint32
Access type: Read-only
Qualifiers: Units (Megabytes)

Highest use page file.

Data type: string
Access type: Read-only

Current status of the object. Various operational and nonoperational statuses can be defined. Operational statuses include: "OK", "Degraded", and "Pred Fail" (an element, such as a SMART-enabled hard disk drive, may be functioning properly but predicting a failure in the near future). Nonoperational statuses include: "Error", "Starting", "Stopping", and "Service". The latter, "Service", could apply during mirror-resilvering of a disk, reload of a user permissions list, or other administrative work. Not all such work is online, yet the managed element is neither "OK" nor in one of the other states.

The values are:

"Pred Fail"
Data type: boolean
Access type: Read-only

Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP:  If true, a temporary page file has been created, usually because there is no permanent page file on the current computer system.

The Win32_PageFileUsage class is derived from CIM_LogicalElement.
