Color.A property

Applies to Windows and Windows Phone

Gets or sets the sRGB alpha channel value of the color.

Syntax

Public Property A As Byte

Property value

Type: System.Byte

The sRGB alpha channel value of the color, as a value between 0 and 255.

Remarks

The alpha channel of a Color structure determines the amount of transparency the Color has. An alpha value of 255 indicates the Color is completely opaque and a value of 0 indicates the Color is completely transparent. Specifying an alpha value of other than 255 isn't typical, because it affects the apparent color hue of a color. It's more common to set colors for full alpha, but use other properties like the Opacity of a UIElement to cause blending or transparency effects, including fade-in animations.

You can set this value in XAML, but only as part of the attribute syntax for properties that take a Color, or as initialization text of a Color object element. See XAML sections and Remarks sections of Color.
