Choosing your markets

The Windows Store reaches customers in over 200 countries and regions around the world. You can choose the markets in which you'd like to offer your app.

Be sure to consider our guidelines to help you globalize your app.

Windows Store consumer markets

Apps listed in the Windows Store are directed at customers in markets around the world.

Local laws and restrictions could prevent some apps from being listed in some markets. Also, some markets may require age rating certificates from a specific rating board. See Age ratings and rating boards for more info.

Note   It is your responsibility to meet any local legal requirements, even if those requirements aren't listed here or in the Windows Store Dashboard.

The Windows Store identifies markets by countries and regions, and will present market-specific catalogs to the countries and regions listed in this table. For countries or regions listed in bold, the Windows Store accepts payment in the market's local currency.

Markets that support only free apps

As you define the purchase experience for your apps, keep in mind that some markets allow only free apps:

  • French Southern and Antarctic Lands
  • Isle of Man

Markets that don't accept 18+ apps

When you submit an app, you have to select an appropriate age rating for it. If you're submitting a game, you have the option of selecting an age rating of 18+. If you do, there are some markets that are unavailable to you:

  • Australia
  • Germany
  • Japan
  • Korea
  • New Zealand
  • Taiwan
  • Rest of World

Note  For a list of the countries and regions in which you can register for a developer account, see Account types, locations, and fees.
