IDesignerHost.CreateComponent Method (Type, String)

Creates a component of the specified type and name, and adds it to the design document.

IComponent CreateComponent(
	Type componentClass,
	string name
)

Parameters

componentClass
Type: System.Type

The type of the component to create.

name
Type: System.String

The name for the component.

Return Value

Type: System.ComponentModel.IComponent
The newly created component.

If the type cannot be resolved into an object that implements IComponent, an exception is thrown.

This method creates the component and adds it to the designer container.

Supported in: 4, 3.5 SP1

Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows 8, Windows Server 2012, Windows 7, Windows Vista SP2, Windows Server 2008 (Server Core Role not supported), Windows Server 2008 R2 (Server Core Role supported with SP1 or later; Itanium not supported)
