FileVersionInfo.IsPrivateBuild Property

Gets a value that specifies whether the file was built using standard release procedures.

Namespace: System.Diagnostics
Assembly: System (in system.dll)

public bool IsPrivateBuild { get; }
/** @property */
public boolean get_IsPrivateBuild ()

public function get IsPrivateBuild () : boolean

Property Value

true if the file is a private build; false if the file was built using standard release procedures.

If this value is true, PrivateBuild will describe how this version of the file differs from the standard version.

The following example calls GetVersionInfo to get the FileVersionInfo for the Notepad. Then it displays the private build information in a text box. This code assumes textBox1 has been instantiated.

private void GetIsPrivateBuild() {
    // Get the file version for the notepad.
    FileVersionInfo myFileVersionInfo = FileVersionInfo.GetVersionInfo("%systemroot%\\Notepad.exe");

    // Print whether the version is a private build.
    textBox1.Text = "Version is a private build: " + myFileVersionInfo.IsPrivateBuild;
 }

private void GetIsPrivateBuild()
{
    // Get the file version for the notepad.
    FileVersionInfo myFileVersionInfo =
        FileVersionInfo.GetVersionInfo("%systemroot%\\Notepad.exe");

    // Print whether the version is a private build.
    textBox1.set_Text("Version is a private build: "
        + myFileVersionInfo.get_IsPrivateBuild());
} //GetIsPrivateBuild

private function GetIsPrivateBuild() {
    //Get the file version for the notepad.
    var myFileVersionInfo : FileVersionInfo = FileVersionInfo.GetVersionInfo("%systemroot%\\Notepad.exe");

    //Print whether the version is a private build.
    textBox1.Text = "Version is a private build: " + myFileVersionInfo.IsPrivateBuild;
 }
