FileVersionInfo.FileDescription Property

Gets the description of the file.

public string FileDescription { get; }

Property Value

Type: System.String
The description of the file or null if the file did not contain version information.

The following example calls GetVersionInfo to get the FileVersionInfo for the Notepad. Then it prints the FileDescription in a text box. This code assumes textBox1 has been instantiated.

private void GetFileDescription()
{
    // Get the file version for the notepad.
    FileVersionInfo myFileVersionInfo =
        FileVersionInfo.GetVersionInfo(Environment.SystemDirectory + "\\Notepad.exe");

    // Print the file description.
    textBox1.Text = "File description: " + myFileVersionInfo.FileDescription;
}
