How to: Verify Work Item Query Changes

You can verify that the queries you specified were created correctly by creating a new team project that is based on your custom process template, and referring to the following procedure. For more information about how to change work item queries, see How to: Add a Query to a Process Template.

Required Permissions

To perform this procedure you must be a member of either the Project Administrators group, the Contributors group, or the Readers group for the team project.

If the necessary security permissions are set explicitly, you must have View work items in this node permission set to Allow on the area node that contains the work items. For more information, see Team Foundation Server Permissions.

To verify work item queries

  1. In Team Explorer, expand the Team Queries node. Make sure that each query is present.

  2. Right-click a query and select View Results. Make sure that the results are as expected and that they have the correct columns.

  3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for each query.

  4. Run a query to return all work items. Make sure that all the work item instances that you specified are present.
