Task.Delay Method (Int32)

Creates a task that will complete after a time delay.

	int millisecondsDelay


Type: System.Int32

The number of milliseconds to wait before completing the returned task

Return Value

Type: System.Threading.Tasks.Task
A task that represents the time delay


The millisecondsDelay is less than -1.

After the specified time delay, the task is completed in RanToCompletion state.

The following example shows a simple use of the Delay method.

var t = Task.Run(async delegate 
   await Task.Delay(1000); 
   return 42;
