Open a Work Item from a Work Item Link (Team Explorer Everywhere)

Visual Studio 2010

To view information contained in linked work items, you can open them from the list of linked work items. You can open linked work items by using the following Team Foundation clients: the Team Foundation Server plug-in for Eclipse, Team Web Access, Team Explorer, Office Excel, and Office Project.

Required Permissions

To perform this procedure, you must be a member of the Contributors group or have your View work items in this node permission set to Allow. For more information, see Team Foundation Server Permissions.

NoteNote

If you do not have permissions to view a work item that is linked, the link is shown, but only the ID and not the title of the work item appears.

To open a linked work item

  1. Open the work item form for editing and click the tab for managing links.

    NoteNote

The name of the tab might be Links, All Links, or Implementation. The name of the tab is determined by the work item definition.

  2. Select the linked work item that you want to open.

  3. Click Open or Open Linked Item.

Review the work item in the browser or the work item window. For information about how to modify the work item, see Modify a Work Item (Team Explorer Everywhere).
