Requirements for Running Java, Ant, and Maven Builds with Team Foundation Build

Visual Studio 2010

Before you can run Java, Ant, or Maven builds on a server that is running Team Foundation Build, you must install software in addition to Team Foundation Build. For more information about how to configure a server that is running Team Foundation Build, see the following page on the Microsoft web site: Configure Your Build System

You must install the following additional software:

  1. Team Foundation Build Extensions Power Tool – You must install this after you have set up your server to run Team Foundation Build. You can download the power tool from the Microsoft Web site: Team Foundation Build Extension Power Tool

  2. Java development kit (JDK) – You can download the Java development kit from the following Web site: Home.

  3. Ant – If you want to run Ant builds, you must install Ant. You can download Ant from the following Web site: Apache Ant.

  4. Maven – If you want to run Maven builds, you must install Maven. You can download Maven from the following Web site: Apache Maven.

    Important noteImportant

    You can perform Maven builds only if you are using Visual Studio Team Foundation Server 2010 or Visual Studio Team System 2008 Team Foundation Server. Visual Studio 2005 cannot be used to run Maven builds.
