toLowerCase Method (JavaScript)

Converts all the alphabetic characters in a string to lowercase.

strVariable.toLowerCase()
"String Literal".toLowerCase() 

The toLowerCase method has no effect on non-alphabetic characters.

The following example demonstrates the effects of the toLowerCase method:

var str1 = "This is a STRING.";
var str2 = str1. toLowerCase();
document.write(str2);

// Output: this is a string.

Supported in the following document modes: Quirks, Internet Explorer 6 standards, Internet Explorer 7 standards, Internet Explorer 8 standards, Internet Explorer 9 standards, Internet Explorer 10 standards, Internet Explorer 11 standards.
