Calling StartNew is functionally equivalent to creating a Task<TResult> using one of its constructors and then calling Start to schedule it for execution.
Starting with the .NET Framework 4.5, you can use the Run method with an [System.Action] object as a quick way to call StartNew with default parameters. For more information and code examples, see the entry Task.Run vs. Task.Factory.StartNew in the Parallel Programming with .NET blog.
Windows 8, Windows Server 2012, Windows 7, Windows Vista SP2, Windows Server 2008 (Server Core Role not supported), Windows Server 2008 R2 (Server Core Role supported with SP1 or later; Itanium not supported)
The .NET Framework does not support all versions of every platform. For a list of the supported versions, see .NET Framework System Requirements.
