.NET Framework 4Lazy InitializationUpdated: March 2011Lazy initialization of an object means that its creation is deferred until it is first used. (For this topic, the terms lazy initialization and lazy instantiation are synonymous.) Lazy initialization is primarily used to improve performance, avoid wasteful computation, and reduce program memory requirements. These are the most common scenarios:

Another delegate (List(T).Find Method (System.Collections.Generic))
In the Console.WriteLines I added the following: Console.WriteLine("\nFind(delegate): {0}", dinosaurs.Find(delegate(string s) { return s.EndsWith("saurus"); }));

The thread of the events (BackgroundWorker Class (System.ComponentModel))
It is my understanding that the three BackgroundWorker events other than DoWork execute in the thread that the BackgroundWorker is created in. If any of that is incorrect, then the documentation should state the accurate information. If my understanding is correct, then it still would help if the documentation was explicit.In other words, the ProgressChanged and RunWorkerCompleted event handlers d

Exceptions (Application.CurrentCulture Property (System.Windows.Forms))
Possible exceptions: NotSupportedException The property is set to a neutral culture. Neutral cultures cannot be used in formatting and parsing and therefore cannot be set as the thread's current culture.ArgumentNullExceptionThe property is set to null reference (Nothing in Visual Basic).See: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.threading.thread.currentculture.aspx

Control BeginInvoke is different with delegate BeginInvoke (Control.BeginInvoke Method (Delegate) (System.Windows.Forms))
@ChessoThe page you refer (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/2e08f6yc.aspx) is for delegate BeginInvoke(). This page is about Control.BeginInvoke() and it's true for Control.BeginInvoke it's not necessary to call EndInvoke.For more information about UI thread you can read the following article http://weblogs.asp.net/justin_rogers/pages/126345.aspx

Using Event ObjectsApplications can use event objects in a number of situations to notify a waiting thread of the occurrence of an event. For example, overlapped I/O operations on files, named pipes, and communications devices use an event object to signal their completion. For more information about the use of event objects in overlapped I/O operations, see Synchronization and Overlapped In

Calling WaitOne() with exitContext=true throws ArgumentException exception (ManualResetEvent.WaitOne Method (Int32, Boolean) (System.Threading))
The following code always throw an exception: protected ManualResetEvent m_ThreadHandle = new ManualResetEvent(false); m_ThreadHandle.WaitOne(0, true); The exitContext parameter to the WaitOne(int millisecondsTimeout, bool exitContext) method must be false.A fellow programmer documented this very well in his blog entry, Compact Framework WaitHandle.WaitOne Gotcha.
