Disc usage on virtual servers (Enhancing General Replication Performance)
The advice states that one should use a different disc for transaction logs under certain (general) circumstances. When using a virtual server with only one physical disc drive, does this advice still hold? Does the separation provide anything more than logical clarity if there is only one physical disc drive?

OutputCache in MVC 2 caches entire response (OutputCacheAttribute Class (System.Web.Mvc))
Partial views (ascx files) are cached, too, as they make up the response from the Action.Adding the @OutputCache directive to the ascx file does not work; it is ignored. There is no simple way in MVC 2 to cached partially, or partially exclude some ouput from cache. There are some more complex techniques to do this out in the blogosphere but check which version of MVC they work with.

Can be a lightweight replacement for critical sections (Slim Reader/Writer (SRW) Locks (Windows))
Using an SRW in exclusive mode can be a lightweight replacement for CRITICAL_SECTION. However, they don't offer as many debugging features as CRITICAL_SECTION. You might want to try SRW locks in exclusive mode and see if they improve the performance of your performance-critical code.
