The example given on this page has an extra closing bracket on line 34. Remove it and then you can convert this example to VB.NET, as I have done below:Imports System.IOImports System.NetImports System.TextNamespace Examples.System.Net Public Class WebRequestGetExample Public Shared Sub Main() ' Get the object used to communicate with the server. Dim request As Ftp

ASP.NET ConfigurationHow to: Create and Configure FTP Sites in IIS 6.0File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is a standard protocol for moving files from one computer to another across the Internet. The files are stored on a server computer, which runs FTP server software. Remote computers can then connect using FTP and read files from the server or copy files to the server. Why encoded UTF-8? (How to: Upload Files with FTP)
This example is great with text files, but try it with excel or many other file types and it fails. With a small change it will work for most any file. USE: byte[] fileContents = file.ReadAllBytes("testfile.txt"); NOT: StreamReader sourceStream = new StreamReader("testfile.txt"); byte [] fileContents = Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(sourceStream.ReadToEnd()); I have had more luck with this method

This encoding method will work for text that is encoded utf-8 but if you want to do any file you should use: byte[] fileContents = file.ReadAllBytes("testfile.txt"); NOT: StreamReader sourceStream = new StreamReader("testfile.txt");byte [] fileContents = Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(sourceStream.ReadToEnd());

Be aware of limitations with this... (WebRequestMethods.Ftp.GetFileSize Field (System.Net))
I've been working with FTP lately and have had problems with some unix servers when trying to get the size of a file, I have discovered that this property does not work as Microsoft says Microsoft says that the use of UseBinary:when True = will send "TYPE I"when False = will send "TYPE A" However this is not strictly true as the "TYPE I" command will only send the command w

Not a good sample (How to: Download Files with FTP)
I think this is not good idea, since GetResponse method will be blocked till respone is received. I think the following is a better solution : public static bool AppendFileOnServer(string fileName, Uri serverUri){ // The URI described by serverUri should use the ftp:// scheme. // It contains the name of the file on the server. // Example: ftp://contoso.com/someFile.txt.

FROM http://adotnetdude.blogspot.com/2007/12/some-gotchas-with-biztalks-ftp-adapter.html the biztalk adapter closes the ftp connection after 3 minutes of inactivity. this means that you must process your files promptly. if you're processing a large file, and it takes more than 3 minutes for your process to commit the message(s) to the message box, you will not be able to delete the file from t
