Migrating from VS2005 to VS2008 (Application Not Installed)
If you are migrating from VS2005 to VS2008 - open VS2008 first, click on the File | Open | Project/Solution, navigate to your project or solution file and let the Visual Studio Conversion Wizard do the conversion for you. Do not attempt to launch Visual Studio by double clicking the project or solution file in Windows Explorer otherwise you will encounter the error mentioned in this article.
