This page is specific to
Microsoft Visual Studio 2008/.NET Framework 3.5

Other versions are also available for the following:
.NET Framework Class Library
BindingSource..::.DataError Event

Occurs when a currency-related exception is silently handled by the BindingSource.

Namespace:  System.Windows.Forms
Assembly:  System.Windows.Forms (in System.Windows.Forms.dll)
Visual Basic (Declaration)
Public Event DataError As BindingManagerDataErrorEventHandler
Visual Basic (Usage)
Dim instance As BindingSource
Dim handler As BindingManagerDataErrorEventHandler

AddHandler instance.DataError, handler
C#
public event BindingManagerDataErrorEventHandler DataError
Visual C++
public:
 event BindingManagerDataErrorEventHandler^ DataError {
    void add (BindingManagerDataErrorEventHandler^ value);
    void remove (BindingManagerDataErrorEventHandler^ value);
}
JScript
JScript does not support events.

This event is informational and reports CLS-compliant exceptions only. To determine what type of exception occurred, handle this event and check the Exception property of the BindingManagerDataErrorEventArgs.

For more information about handling events, see Consuming Events.

The following code example demonstrates the use of this member. In the example, an event handler reports on the occurrence of the DataError event. This report helps you to learn when the event occurs and can assist you in debugging. To report on multiple events or on events that occur frequently, consider replacing MessageBox..::.Show with Console..::.WriteLine or appending the message to a multiline TextBox.

To run the example code, paste it into a project that contains an instance of type BindingSource named BindingSource1. Then ensure that the event handler is associated with the DataError event.

Visual Basic
Private Sub BindingSource1_DataError(sender as Object, e as BindingManagerDataErrorEventArgs) _
     Handles BindingSource1.DataError

    Dim messageBoxVB as New System.Text.StringBuilder()
    messageBoxVB.AppendFormat("{0} = {1}", "Exception", e.Exception)
    messageBoxVB.AppendLine()
    MessageBox.Show(messageBoxVB.ToString(),"DataError Event")

End Sub
C#
private void BindingSource1_DataError(Object sender, BindingManagerDataErrorEventArgs e) {

System.Text.StringBuilder messageBoxCS = new System.Text.StringBuilder();
messageBoxCS.AppendFormat("{0} = {1}", "Exception", e.Exception );
messageBoxCS.AppendLine();
MessageBox.Show(messageBoxCS.ToString(), "DataError Event" );
}
