DataList.SeparatorStyle Property

Gets the style properties of the separator between each item in the DataList control.

Namespace:  System.Web.UI.WebControls
Assembly:  System.Web (in System.Web.dll)

'Declaration
<PersistenceModeAttribute(PersistenceMode.InnerProperty)> _
Public Overridable ReadOnly Property SeparatorStyle As TableItemStyle

Property Value

Type: System.Web.UI.WebControls.TableItemStyle
A TableItemStyle object that contains the style properties of the separator between each item in the DataList control. The default value is an empty TableItemStyle object.

Use the SeparatorStyle property to provide a custom style for the separator between each item in the DataList control. The separator allows you to place an element with custom content between each item in the DataList control. Common style attributes that can be adjusted include foreground color, background color, font, and content alignment within the cell. Providing a different style enhances the appearance of the DataList control.

To specify a custom style for the separator, place the <SeparatorStyle> tags between the opening and closing tags of the DataList control. You can then list the style attributes within the opening <SeparatorStyle> tag.

The following code example demonstrates how to use the SeparatorStyle property to specify a custom background color for the separator between each item in the DataList control.
