VirtualReferenceType Enumeration

Specifies the type of resource referenced by a parsed virtual path.

Namespace:  System.Web.UI
Assembly:  System.Web (in System.Web.dll)
public enum VirtualReferenceType
Member nameDescription
MasterThe parsed virtual path references a master page file.
OtherThe parsed virtual path references a resource that is not an ASP.NET page, master page, user control, or language-specific code file.
PageThe parsed virtual path references an ASP.NET page.
SourceFileThe parsed virtual path references a code file that is compiled using a specific language compiler.
UserControlThe parsed virtual path references an ASP.NET user control.

The VirtualReferenceType enumeration describes the type of resource referenced by a virtual path. The VirtualReferenceType is determined from the parsed extension of the resource.

Page and control developers do not use the VirtualReferenceType enumeration directly. Extensibility developers might use the VirtualReferenceType enumeration when extending the PageParserFilter class and overriding its AllowVirtualReference method.
