WebFormsRootDesigner.AddControlToDocument Method

When overridden in a derived class, adds a Web server control to the Web Forms page.

Parameters

newControl
Type: System.Web.UI.Control

The control to add to the Web Forms page.

referenceControl
Type: System.Web.UI.Control

The control relative to which newControl is added.

location
Type: System.Web.UI.Design.ControlLocation

A ControlLocation value that indicates the location for newControl relative to referenceControl.

Return Value

Type: System.String
The ID of the control that was added.

Although a control might already have an ID assigned to it, if there is already a control in the Web Forms page with the same ID, a new ID is assigned.

Supported in: 4.5, 4, 3.5, 3.0, 2.0

Windows 8, Windows Server 2012, Windows 7, Windows Vista SP2, Windows Server 2008 (Server Core Role not supported), Windows Server 2008 R2 (Server Core Role supported with SP1 or later; Itanium not supported)
