Membership.Provider Property

Gets a reference to the default membership provider for the application.

Namespace:  System.Web.Security
Assembly:  System.Web (in System.Web.dll)
'Declaration
Public Shared ReadOnly Property Provider As MembershipProvider

Property Value

Type: System.Web.Security.MembershipProvider
The default membership provider for the application exposed using the MembershipProvider abstract base class.

The Provider property enables you to reference the default membership provider for an application directly. This is commonly used to access custom members of the membership provider that are not part of the MembershipProvider abstract base class.

The following code example accesses the default SqlMembershipProvider enabled for the application using the Provider property in order to determine the value of the custom RequiresUniqueEmail property.
