HttpApplicationStateBase Class

Serves as the base class for classes that enable information to be shared across multiple sessions and requests within an ASP.NET application.

Namespace:  System.Web
Assembly:  System.Web.Abstractions (in System.Web.Abstractions.dll)

[AspNetHostingPermissionAttribute(SecurityAction.LinkDemand, Level = AspNetHostingPermissionLevel.Minimal)]
[AspNetHostingPermissionAttribute(SecurityAction.InheritanceDemand, Level = AspNetHostingPermissionLevel.Minimal)]
public abstract class HttpApplicationStateBase : NameObjectCollectionBase,
	ICollection, IEnumerable

The HttpApplicationStateBase class is an abstract class that contains the same members as the HttpApplicationState class. The HttpApplicationStateBase class lets you create derived classes that are like the HttpApplicationState class, but that you can customize and that work outside the ASP.NET pipeline. When you perform unit testing, you typically use a derived class to implement members with customized behavior that fulfills the scenario you are testing.

The HttpApplicationStateWrapper class derives from the HttpApplicationStateBase class. The HttpApplicationStateWrapper class serves as a wrapper for the HttpApplicationState class. At run time, you typically use an instance of the HttpApplicationStateWrapper class to call members of the HttpApplicationState object.

Any public static (Shared in Visual Basic) members of this type are thread safe. Any instance members are not guaranteed to be thread safe.
