HttpCapabilitiesBase.ClrVersion Property

Gets the version of the .NET Framework that is installed on the client.

Assembly:  System.Web (in System.Web.dll)
public Version ClrVersion { get; }

Property Value

Type: System.Version
The common language runtime Version.

The ClrVersion property is supported only when the browser is Internet Explorer version 5.0 and later.

If the .NET Framework is not installed on the client, the value of the version elements returned is 0, 0,-1,-1.

If more than one version of the .NET Framework is installed on the client, the ClrVersion property returns the latest version.

Windows 7, Windows Vista SP1 or later, Windows XP SP3, Windows XP SP2 x64 Edition, Windows Server 2008 (Server Core not supported), Windows Server 2008 R2 (Server Core supported with SP1 or later), Windows Server 2003 SP2

Doesn't work correctly with .net 4.0
Note that IE 8 with .net 4.0 installed still reports 3.5 as clrversion (apparently the framework doesn't know how to find itself :-)
The new useragent  string can't be passed correctly by .net.
