SHA512Managed Class
This page is specific to:.NET Framework Version:1.12.03.03.54.0
.NET Framework Class Library
SHA512Managed Class

Computes the SHA512 hash algorithm for the input data using the managed library.

Namespace:  System.Security.Cryptography
Assembly:  mscorlib (in mscorlib.dll)
Syntax

'Usage

Dim instance As SHA512Managed

'Declaration

<ComVisibleAttribute(True)> _
Public Class SHA512Managed _
    Inherits SHA512
Remarks

The hash is used as a unique value of fixed size representing a large amount of data. Hashes of two sets of data should match if and only if the corresponding data also matches. Small changes to the data result in large unpredictable changes in the hash.

The hash size for the SHA512Managed algorithm is 512 bits.

Examples

The following example computes the SHA512Managed hash for data and stores it in result. This example assumes that there is a predefined constant DATA_SIZE.

Dim data(DATA_SIZE) As Byte
Dim result() As Byte

Dim shaM As New SHA512Managed()
result = shaM.ComputeHash(data)
