CspParameters.ProviderType Field

Represents the provider type code for CspParameters.

Namespace:  System.Security.Cryptography
Assembly:  mscorlib (in mscorlib.dll)

public int ProviderType

Use the ProviderType field to specify a provider type by passing a numeric value that represents that provider. The numeric values that represent the default provider types are defined in the WinCrypt.h header file:

  • To specify a provider compatible with the RSA class, pass a value of 1.

  • To specify a provider compatible with the DSA class, pass a value of 13.

NoteNote:

The ProviderName field is not provided when the ProviderType field is greater than 20. In the .NET Framework version 3.5 Service Pack 1 and later, when you create a service provider by using a default constructor, the default ProviderType that is supplied is 24 (PROV_RSA_AES). Therefore, the ProviderName field is not provided. To explicitly specify the ProviderType, use the service provider constructor that takes a CspParameters parameter and set its ProviderType field to a value that is less than 20, for example, 1 (PROV_RSA_FULL).

The following table lists the provider types and their corresponding numeric values defined in the WinCrypt.h header file.
