Marshal.GetUniqueObjectForIUnknown Method

Note: This method is new in the .NET Framework version 2.0.

Creates a unique runtime callable wrapper (RCW) object for a given IUnknown.

Namespace: System.Runtime.InteropServices
Assembly: mscorlib (in mscorlib.dll)

public static Object GetUniqueObjectForIUnknown (
	IntPtr unknown
)
public static Object GetUniqueObjectForIUnknown (
	IntPtr unknown
)
public static function GetUniqueObjectForIUnknown (
	unknown : IntPtr
) : Object

Parameters

unknown

A managed pointer to an IUnknown.

Return Value

A unique runtime callable wrapper (RCW) for a given IUnknown.

The GetUniqueObjectForIUnknown method ensures that you receive a unique runtime callable wrapper (RCW) because it does not match an IUnknown to an existing object. Use this method for cases where you need to create a unique RCW that is not impacted by other code calling the ReleaseComObject method.
