Marshal.GetNativeVariantForObject Method
Converts an object to a COM VARIANT.
Assembly: mscorlib (in mscorlib.dll)
[SecurityPermissionAttribute(SecurityAction.LinkDemand, Flags = SecurityPermissionFlag.UnmanagedCode)] public static void GetNativeVariantForObject( Object obj, IntPtr pDstNativeVariant )
Parameters
- obj
- Type: System.Object
The object for which to get a COM VARIANT.
- pDstNativeVariant
- Type: System.IntPtr
An IntPtr to receive the VARIANT corresponding to the obj parameter.
| Exception | Condition |
|---|---|
| ArgumentException | The obj parameter is a generic type. |
The pDstNativeVariant parameter must point to sufficient memory to store the resulting VARIANT. Also, the implementation of this method calls VariantInit on the raw memory that the pDstNativeVariant parameter points to.
Note: |

This method uses SecurityAction.LinkDemand to prevent it from being called from untrusted code; only the immediate caller is required to have SecurityPermissionAttribute.UnmanagedCode permission. If your code can be called from partially trusted code, do not pass user input to Marshal class methods without validation. For important limitations on using the LinkDemand member, see Demand vs. LinkDemand. |
- SecurityPermission
for permission to call unmanaged code.
