VerbsCommunications.Write Field

Specifies an action that adds information to a target. For example, the Write-Host cmdlet writes customized output to a host.

Namespace: System.Management.Automation
Assembly: System.Management.Automation (in System.Management.Automation.dll)

'Usage
Dim value As String

value = VerbsCommunications.Write

public const string Write
public static final String Write
public const var Write : String

The following example shows how this field is used in the Cmdlet attribute.

[Cmdlet(VerbsCommunications.Write, "Host")]
public class WriteHost : Cmdlet

This verb is paired with Read. For consistency with other cmdlets that perform the same action, do not use verbs such as Put or Print for this action.

The verb portion of a cmdlet name specifies the action that is taken by the cmdlet and is specified by the Cmdlet attribute. For more information about the declaration syntax used to specify the Cmdlet attribute, see Cmdlet Attribute Declaration.

For more information about the guidelines for selecting verb names, see Cmdlet Verb Names.
