A Stream with no backing store.
[Visual Basic] Public Shared ReadOnly Null As Stream [C#] public static readonly Stream Null; [C++] public: static Stream* Null; [JScript] public static var Null : Stream;
For an example of creating a file and writing text to a file, see Writing Text to a File. For an example of reading text from a file, see Reading Text from a File. For an example of reading from and writing to a binary file, see Reading and Writing to a Newly Created Data File.
Use Null to redirect output to a stream that will not consume any operating system resources. When the methods of Stream that provide writing are invoked on Null, the call simply returns, and no data is written. Null also implements a Read method that returns zero without reading data.
