DataContext.DatabaseExists Method

Determines whether the associated database can be opened.

Namespace:  System.Data.Linq
Assembly:  System.Data.Linq (in System.Data.Linq.dll)
public bool DatabaseExists()

Return Value

Type: System.Boolean
true if the specified database can be opened; otherwise, false.

This method uses the connection in the Connection property to attempt to open the associated database.

The following example uses this method to determine whether a database already exists.


if (!db.DatabaseExists())
    db.CreateDatabase();
// …
db.DeleteDatabase();

Returns false even though the database is opened and quired later on in the code execution. $0$0 $0 $0Yes I can confirm this issue (bug). We have an application in SharePoint 2010 which checks if database exists and sometimes (especially after an IIS reset) we can reproduce this issue...After another IIS reset it works. Probably there is a caching in .NET...$0
