JavaScript Version Information

Different versions of JavaScript support different sets of JavaScript elements. Moreover, standards mode (the mode used in all current versions of Internet Explorer when there is a <!doctype> directive) supports different sets of elements than quirks mode (the mode used when there is no <!doctype> directive).For more information about versioning, see Defining Document Compatibility.

The following sections describe the sets of JavaScript elements that are not supported by particular versions of Internet Explorer.

Internet Explorer 10 (standards mode)

  1. ActiveXObject Object (JavaScript) is supported in Internet Explorer only.

  2. Conditional Compilation (JavaScript) is supported in Internet Explorer only.

  3. Enumerator Object (JavaScript) is supported in Internet Explorer only.

  4. getVarDate Method (JavaScript) is supported in Internet Explorer only.

  5. HTML Wrappers are supported in Internet Explorer only.

  6. Strict Mode (JavaScript) is supported in Internet Explorer 10 only.
