Learn about the API reference libraries that are available in SharePoint 2013 for developing SharePoint apps.

API reference libraries for developing SharePoint apps in SharePoint 2013 includes two API reference libraries.

  • .NET client API reference for SharePoint 2013. Contains APIs that you can use to build SharePoint apps using the .NET client (CSOM), Silverlight, and Windows Phone programming models. Most APIs that are available for you to create .NET server solutions are available in the CSOM and Silverlight programming models.

  • JavaScript API reference for SharePoint 2013. Contains APIs that you can use to build JavaScript apps for SharePoint and create custom behaviors for your apps. Most APIs that are available for you to create .NET client and Silverlight apps are available in JavaScript.
