Obtain an address from a DHCP serverWhen selected, the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server assigns the IP address to the adapter when the target system boots.
Specify an IP addressWhen selected, type the following addresses dotted quad format using decimal values:
IP address -- Type the address that identifies the adapter's node on a network.
Subnet mask -- Type the value that allows the recipient of IP packets to distinguish the network identification portion of the IP address from the host ID.
Default gateway -- Type the IP address of the default gateway or IP router that forwards information to other networks.
Note   The first 1, 2, or 3 bytes of the IP identify the network that the host is connected to. The bytes are assigned by the InterNIC Registration Services. The remaining bits identify the host.

Or, you can set several IP addresses for a network adapter.

Important   If you select the Obtain an address from a DHCP server check box, you must also select the DHCP Client component.
Note   You can use the Find feature to search for the DHCP Client component.
