Use the Application Programming Interface to Locate Special Folders
Windows XP has new specialized folders to help users organize and retrieve documents and multimedia files. Your application should use the application programming interface in ShFolder.dll to locate special shell folders to ensure compatibility with earlier system versions. For more information, see
>Standard Shell Interfaces.
When you use Windows Installer to manage the setup for your application, during installation, the installer retrieves the properties of many special folders. For more information, see
>System Folder Properties in
>Windows Installer.
