Restoring the Team Foundation Server from Backups

As a Team Foundation Server administrator, you might have to restore Team Foundation Server. The databases are the major component to restore. All other steps in the restoration process are related to configuring the application services to reconnect to that restored data. You should consider doing test restorations frequently to ensure the integrity of your backups.

Caution noteCaution:

If possible, use the same data-tier name for the server you restore to. If you must restore to a different data-tier server name, you cannot recover the Microsoft Project files that are stored in Team Foundation Server. Microsoft Office documents such as Word documents (.doc) and Excel spreadsheets (.xls) can be recovered.
