How to: Close Work Items

Note

This topic is based on the work item transitions available in the bug work item for MSF for Agile Software Development. If your project is using a different methodology, your work item states might be different. MSF for Agile Software Development is one of the process guidance templates that are included with Team Foundation. For more information, see Finding and Using Process Guidance.

Closing a work item means you agree with the resolution. For example, if the work item is resolved as fixed, it means that the issue described in the work item is fixed. If the work item is resolved as postponed, closing the work item indicates that you agree with the decision not to fix it during the current project cycle.
