How to: Open Work Item Queries from E-Mail

Queries that are sent in e-mail usually contain information specific to an issue you need to react to. You can run the queries to see the specific work item or work items that you need to review.

Required Permissions

To perform this procedure, you must be a member of the Readers group or have the View work items in this node permission set to Allow. For more information, see Team Foundation Server Permissions.

To open a query that was e-mailed to you

  1. On a computer that has Team Explorer installed, open the e-mail that contains the query you need to run.

  2. Open the query attachment. If you are using Microsoft Outlook, you can double-click the attachment to open it. If you are unsure how to open an attachment, check the Help for your e-mail program.

  3. In Team Explorer, click the Run button to run the query.

  4. If you want to save the query for later use, from the File menu, click Save <query name> [Query].
