Disabling Unneeded Services
SQL Server 2008 R2
To increase the security of a computer that is running Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services, disable all nonessential services on the computer. In particular, the following protocols are not secure and should be disabled if they are not needed:
Telnet
FTP
SMTP
NNTP
