How to: Add, Modify, or Delete a Perspective (Model Designer)

To modify a report model, the model project must be open in Microsoft Business Intelligence Development Studio.

To add a perspective

  1. In the tree view of the Report Model window, click the report model, on the Reporting Model menu, click New Perspective.

    The Edit Perspective dialog box appears.

  2. In the Edit Perspective dialog, clear the check boxes of the entities that you do not want to add to the perspective.

  3. Click OK.

  4. To rename the perspective, in the list view of the Report Model window, right-click the perspective, click Rename, and then type a name.

To modify a perspective

  1. In the list view of the Report Model window, right-click the perspective, and then click Edit.

    The Edit Perspective dialog box is displayed.

  2. To change the contents of the perspective, add and remove the model items that you want to appear in the perspective, and then click OK.

To delete a perspective

  1. In the list view of the Report Model window, right-click the perspective, and then click Delete.

  2. Click OK.

    The perspective is deleted but the objects within the perspective are still a part of the model.
