Sends a POST request as an asynchronous operation, with a specified value serialized using the given formatter.

Type Parameters


The type of object to serialize.


Type: HttpClient

The client used to make the request.

Type: System.String

The URI the request is sent to.

Type: T

The value to write into the entity body of the request.

Type: System.Net.Http.Formatting.MediaTypeFormatter

The formatter used to serialize the value.

Return Value

Type: System.Threading.Tasks.Task<HttpResponseMessage>
A task object representing the asynchronous operation.

Usage Note

In Visual Basic and C#, you can call this method as an instance method on any object of type HttpClient. When you use instance method syntax to call this method, omit the first parameter.
