How to: Make Sales Tax Payments

You can pay sales tax to the government using the Pay Sales Tax window.

To make a sales tax payment

  1. In the Search box, enter Payment Journals, and then choose the related link.

  2. Fill in the required fields as described in the following table.

    Field Description

    Batch Name

    The batch name for the payment journal.

    Posting Date

    The sales tax payment posting date.

    Document Type

    Specify Payment to indicate that the document type is payment.

    Document No.

    The document number for the sales tax payment.

    External Document No.

    The external document number.

    Account Type

    Specify G/L Account to indicate that the account type is general ledger account.

    Account No.

    The sales tax payable general ledger account number.

    Bal. Account Type

    Specify Bank Account to indicate that the balancing account type is bank account.

    Bal. Account No.

    The account number to which the balancing entry for the journal line is posted.

  3. On the Navigate tab, in the Payments group, choose Tax Payments, and then choose Sales Tax.

    You can view the sales tax payable entries.

  4. On the Actions tab, choose Pay.

    The sales tax payable entries are transferred to the Payment Journal window. For more information, see Payment Journals Window.

  5. In the Payment Journal window, choose Actions, in the Posting, and then choose Post.
